All In Drives working; 1,270 new members

On Feb. 12, Three Rivers Chapter 22 became the latest OSEA chapter to go “All In” with a membership drive.

Over the course of a week, the chapter planned to visit 12 schools in a sustained effort to build membership strength as OSEA braces for a devastating Supreme Court decision in Janus v. AFSCME.

“I believe in our union,” Three Rivers President Gale Barlow said. ”I know and feel the strength we have when we all stand together. The more members we have, the stronger we will become.”

With 154 nonmembers, the chapter has ample room to grow stronger. Its goal is to sign up at least 75 new members over five days.

OSEA’s renewed focus on membership is yielding significant results. Since October, at least 1,270 employees have signed membership applications and some 670 members have signed All In cards demonstrating their commitment to their union.

Currently, OSEA’s total membership count sits at about 15,220 — a net gain of more than 300 since the start of the academic year and the most members since November 2011.

If your chapter would like to join our All In Membership Campaign, please contact your OSEA field representative or the State Office at 800-252-6732.
