After Janus

Today, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned 40 years of legal precedent by making fair-share fees for public sector workers unconstitutional in the Janus v. AFSCME case.

While today’s decision will surely affect OSEA, it has done nothing to change our focus or resolve. No court decision can stop us from standing together in a union to get a better deal for our hard work. It’s our right and no one can take that away from us.

OSEA will continue to represent and advocate for our members, as well as deliver the services they expect and deserve, despite today’s ruling. It’s encouraging that more people now than ever are seeing the value of joining OSEA. In the past year, we’ve welcomed more than 3,000 new members.

More members will translate into more power at the bargaining table.

In Solidarity,
Tim Stoelb, OSEA President
Rick Shidaker, OSEA Executive Director
