Delegates Elect Lisa Gourley as OSEA State President

Lisa Gourley was elected state president at OSEA’s Conference 2019, which was attended by over 250 delegates in June.

A special education assistant at Sweet Home High School, Gourley became an OSEA member in 1995. She has served Sweet Home Chapter 3 as president, vice president, and on numerous committees. In 2011, Gourley was elected Zone III director and has served in that capacity until her election as OSEA state president.

“It’s an honor to be elected president of OSEA,” Gourley says. “Under the leadership of our past president, Tim Stoelb, our union has accomplished a lot, especially in the last year. Building on that, I want to continue our focus on our membership needs and keeping us strong. There are real values in unity! I believe that together, we can do anything.”

Gourley has long been active in Oregon’s labor movement, leading a local AFL-CIO central labor chapter and serving as a general board member of the Oregon AFL-CIO. Recently she was elected to a councilor position on the Sweet Home City Council. Gourley and her husband of 33 years, Jim, have four children and three grandchildren.

Conference elections also filled the following Board positions: Teri Jones as vice president, Mary Hofer as secretary, Dianna Hess as Zone I director, Sella Bemrose as Zone III director, Sheila Waggoner as Zone IV director, Sarah Wofford as Zone V director and Anjee Young-Whitnah as Zone VII director.
