The Oregon Labor Candidate School is seeking eager folks like you to learn the skills to seek and win political office, from your local school board to the state Legislature (and beyond!).
Training offered by OLCS prepares those interested in seeking elected office. You’ll learn practical tips and skills from experienced professionals who will provide valuable insight into the electoral process.
Current and retired union members make great elected officials because we understand the plight of working people and are committed to getting the job done right on behalf of students and the community.
And if you have a fabulous spouse who would do great things in public office, consider talking to them about this exciting opportunity. Recently Sally Cook, wife of a Willamette Education Service District Education Association (WESDEA) Chapter 95 member, defeated a Salem City Council incumbent by nearly 20 points to represent the city’s southwest ward.
She is one of 12 OLCS graduates who current hold elected office. Seven more are running for state-level office and many more sit on appointed boards and commissions and have volunteered for leadership roles.
