Our 2016 Employee of the Year
Cheryl Radinovich, a Harney County School District employee for 32 years, has been selected by OSEA as its 2016 Employee of the Year.
The announcement was made May 5 by OSEA President Tim Stoelb at a Burns High School assembly. This was the third time in the award’s history that the OSEA Employee of the Year was from Harney County. The past winners, Muriel Wenick (2000) and Monica McCanna (2004), were on hand to congratulate a visibly shocked Radinovich.
“Cheryl exemplifies the best attributes of our members,” Stoelb said. “Her years of selfless service and dedication to her school district and union made her nomination stand out from all of the rest.”
Radinovich, who is the office manager at Burns High School, was nominated by her supervisor, Principal Brandon Yant, and then selected by a committee of past OSEA presidents from a pool of nominees from throughout the state.
“There are so many things she does to help the students and staff,” Yant wrote in his nomination letter. “She takes it on herself to make our school run as smoothly as possible … she is, in a word, indispensable.”
OSEA’s Employee of the Year is one of the highest honors the union bestows on members. Radinovich will be honored throughout OSEA’s annual three-day Conference, held June 23-25 in Portland. She will be presented with a traveling trophy, a plaque and photo book during the Saturday night awards banquet on June 25.
A full profile of Radinovich will be published in the May-June Journal.
