Conference 2022
OSEA’s 84th Annual Conference will be held in-person Friday-Saturday, June 24-25, at the Holiday Inn Portland — Columbia Riverfront (Formerly Red Lion on the River) in Portland, Ore.
Conference is our union’s most important event of the year. Delegates elected to represent OSEA’s 140 chapters will gather to share and discuss ideas, elect officers, vote on resolutions and set the course for our union’s future. This year’s Conference Committee has chosen “Navigating the Future” as the theme for Conference 2022.
We are excited to hold Conference 2022 in person for the first time since 2019! This is an important chance for us to connect with fellow members from across the state and this is best done face-to-face. To ensure a safe Conference for all, delegate participation will be contingent on following reasonable COVID-19 safety protocols. Due to COVID safety concerns and to save costs, the OSEA Board of Directors has decided to limit Conference activities to two days.
Countdown to Conference 2022
Important tasks and deadlines for chapters to complete before Conference. If you have questions or need assistance, contact the OSEA State Office at 800-252-6732, linda@osea.org or brad@osea.org.
- Make Hotel Reservations – Make your hotel reservations now at the Holiday Inn Portland — Columbia Riverfront (formerly Red Lion on the River) by calling 503-283-4466 and then press “0” to reach the front desk reservations. Let the hotel know you are with the Oregon School Employees Association. Click here for a list of other nearby hotels.
- Elect Delegates – All chapters must hold meetings in March, April or May to elect delegates to represent their members at Conference. Delegates ensure that OSEA policies represent the interests of our membership. The number of delegates a chapter sends to Conference is determined by size of membership. See the proper procedure for selecting Conference delegates here.
- Register for Conference – All delegates and guests must register before Conference.
- Scholarship Assistance – It is important for all chapters to be able to participate in Conference, regardless of ability to pay. If your chapter needs financial assistance to send delegates to Conference, complete this request for scholarship assistance. Priority will be given to requests received by June 1, 2022.
- Candidate Campaigns – OSEA members running for a seat on the Board of Directors who met the March 1 nomination deadline can submit a photo and 150-word statement for publication in the Journal. Submissions are due by the third Monday in March (March 21, 2022). Details and more information about running your campaign can be found in this brochure.
- Review Resolutions and Candidate Information – Delegates should be prepared to cast an informed vote on the proposed resolutions and officer elections. To familiarize yourself with the issues and candidates, be sure to read through the candidate statements and proposed resolutions along with the pro/con/fiscal impact statements prepared by the Resolutions/Constitution Committee. Resolutions are posted on the righthand side of this page.
- Bring Two Auction Items, a Door Prize and your Chapter banner – Each chapter should donate two items to the Government Relations Office auction. Proceeds go to the Education and Labor Advocacy Fund (ELAF). Items can be purchased or made by someone in your chapter. Chapter banners will be displayed at Conference!
