Legislative Education Day set for March 5-6
Legislative Education Day (LED) is a day for our members to be educated in the legislative process and to educate legislators about the important work they perform every day in our K-12 schools, community colleges, education service districts, higher education, Head Start agencies, park and recreation districts and libraries. It is a day when members see firsthand the people and processes that produce the laws and budgets that have a direct impact on their jobs. This description is accurate, but there is much more to LED.
This is also a day when our members, as citizens as well as public/private sector employees, connect with their government and elected representatives. It is this member/citizen connection and involvement that makes LED much more than just advocating for our interests and concerns. Citizen involvement in the workings of our representative form of government is critical and necessary for it to be successful and responsive. On LED, attending members take an important step toward being connected and involved as career professionals and citizens in the workings of their government.
