Don’t miss out on college scholarships

Application deadlines are not far away for three scholarships available to OSEA members and their relatives.

Deadlines for the Lou Gerber and John Brown Undergraduate scholarships are March 1, 2018.  The deadline for the Guy Davis/Past Presidents’ scholarships is even closer at Jan. 15.

For members, the Lou Gerber Scholarship provides financial support to those who wish to further their education at an accredited school. This includes members without a high school diploma who are seeking a graduation equivalence degree (GED). OSEA sponsors two $1,000 scholarships for each of our seven zones.

Relatives of OSEA and ROSE members have an opportunity to apply for the John Brown Undergraduate and Guy Davis/Past Presidents’ scholarships. Applicants must have at least one parent, stepparent, grandparent, sibling, aunt, uncle or legal guardian who is an OSEA or ROSE member in good standing.

College juniors and seniors are invited to apply for the John Brown Undergraduate Scholarship, which awards $1,000 to a deserving college student with a minimum grade point average of 2.8.

For graduating high school seniors, the Guy Davis Scholarship provides $1,250 to seven graduating seniors, one in each of OSEA’s seven zones, to pursue education beyond high school. The Past Presidents’ Scholarship is a statewide award of $1,500. Both scholarships require a minimum cumulative high school grade point average of 3.0.
