Union members make great public officials

Working families are the backbone of this country, yet are sorely underrepresented in public office. Unions are great at creating leaders, but too often we allow ourselves to be held back by the “what ifs” — What if I can’t raise enough money? What if I’ve never done this before?
That’s why the Oregon Labor Candidate School (OLCS) was created. OLCS brings in seasoned campaign professionals who can tell you everything you ever wanted to know about what it’s really like to seek and win elected office.
The short message: You can do this!
OLCS is recruiting for its Portland-area fall class now. It consists of six sessions of one Saturday per month from Oct.-March. Selection criteria include active union membership, community engagement and, of course, interest in running for public office. Head over to the OLCS website and take a look.
